To apply for a CSCS card you must prove you have the appropriate construction related qualifications and training required to carry out your job. Use the CSCS online cardfinder to find out which card you should apply for and which type of CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test you need to take. https://www.cscs.uk.com/card-finder/
You can prepare for a test with the use of multiple resources. The CITB OP/Spec HS&E test application is available to download for a small fee of £5.99. This app allows you to go through all the questions, and take mock tests to help you fully prepare for the test. Alternatively, you can purchase the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test (For operatives and Specialists) for £12. For online revision you can head to http://www.citb.co.uk/hsandetest
All courses or tests must be paid for in advance. Payments can be made in cash, or card either through the telephone or on site with a card machine.
You must always bring a form of photographic I.D. Failure to do so will lead to cancellation of your test.
From 1st July 2014 the green Construction Site Operative (CSO) card is no longer being issued. There is a new green CSCS card only available for people working in labouring occupations. CSCS’ role is to provide a scheme for the construction industry that confirms site workers’ training and qualifications. Many site workers who are carrying out skilled occupations have been applying for the green CSO card as the easiest route to gain access to construction sites. This makes it difficult for contractors to use CSCS cards as a reliable method of checking that site workers have the appropriate skills to work on construction sites safely and effectively.
If you fail your CSCS Test, you may be able to sit another one in as little as 48 hours. We have regular bookings from Monday to Thursday 9:30am - 3:00pm.
You will need to have passed the CITB Health, safety and environment test within the last 2 years. You can apply for this card if you have completed the QCF Level 1/SCQF Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment. This is a lifetime qualification that only needs to be completed once and will be accepted in 5 years’ time when renewing your Labourer card. Alternatively, you can choose to complete a CITB Health & Safety Awareness Course which is run every other Friday here at Total Training.
